Richwoods High School

    RICHWOODS HIGH SCHOOL,  which was opened in 1957, is found on the  north side of the city of Peoria in central Illinois. The school is located on a 74 acre campus. Richwoods with a diverse student body of approximately 1375 is the largest of the four Peoria School District 150 high schools.  Richwoods has a long history of excellence in academics, athletics and in providing service to the community. The educational program is designed to meet the needs of the individual students by tailoring each pupil's course of study to optimize  the attainment of the student's  goals - be that college admission or entry into employment.

    Included in offerings at Richwoods are an International Baccalaureate degree program, a Health/Science Academy, a television and communications studio, special education programs, technology prep, arts, and various school-business partnership programs such as work-study.

    The college preparatory course of study offers a rigorous curriculum with  college level courses in calculus,  physics, biology and chemistry; five years of French and Spanish are offered, as well as four years of German; enriched courses with accompanying weighted grades are offered in all subject areas. Advanced Placement  Examinations are available in mathematics, foreign languages, English, sciences and social studies. Traditionally, Richwoods students have scored significantly higher than state and national averages on all standardized tests.

    In addition to the quality academics available, co-curricular programs provide the opportunity for the production of well rounded young adults. In addition to a broad base of athletic teams Richwoods offers Scholastic Bowl competition, Student Council, Key Club, Cheerleading and Royalettes, Speech, Plays and Musicals, Yearbook, Newspaper, Band, Chorus, Orchestra and many other clubs and groups.

    Richwoods has produced state championships in either individual events or overall team in:

    Facilities found on the tree surrounded 74 acre Richwoods campus include a television studio, swimming pool, two gymnasiums with spectator seating, computer and science laboratories, a 1,200 seat auditorium, both lighted and unlighted baseball diamonds, two softball diamonds, tennis courts, a cross  country course, and a 6,000 seat stadium with an all weather track.

    Richwoods High School strives to provide its students with the tools necessary to excel in life through the attainment of educational objectives, the development of social skills, and being a well rounded person.
