2003 marked the 75th anniversary
of the 1928 Amsterdam Olympics. That Olympiad was notable as the initiation of
Olympic Track and Field competition for women. Click the poster for a look
back to the '28 games.
The 1928 Amsterdam Olympiade was also the forum providing the international
introduction of American Frank Wykoff who became known as the World's Fastest
Human. Wykoff, forgotten in most athletic circles today, was an amazing athlete
deserving of a better historical fate. The American speedster set a world record
in the 100 yard dash in 1930 that lasted for 17 years - 9.4 seconds without
starting blocks . Click on his winning effort below to discover more about
who this great American athlete was.
