2015 Competitive Season Nears

March 1, 2015
As the calendar page turns to March the 2015 Track & Field competitive season draws near. The Knights recently have been busy in preparation with their usual winter menu of weights, hall running, stairwell laps and the organizing and passing out of sweats.

The team looks to be the typical mix of veterans returning to their events and neophytes seeking their niches on the 2015 version of Richwoods Women's Track. The team is currently fielding one of the larger groups in recent years with total early season members hovering above 50 and attrition remaining small.

The weather, too, has been the standard February fare of tantalizingly moderate days followed by those very long days of ice, snow and cold, again necessitiating that annual indoor practice limitation and boredom,

Wesley Brown Big 12 MeetWhile all of those things have remained the same there is a major difference this year as the Knights move to competing in the Big 12 Conference comprised of  Bloomington, Champaign Centennial, Champaign Central, Danville, Normal Community, Normal West, Peoria High, Peoria Manual, Peoria Notre Dame, Peoria Richwoods, and Urbana.

As a result of the change of alliance, the Knights will open their competitive season at the Wesley Brown Big 12 Conference Indoor Championship Meet on Monday March 9 athIllinois Weslyan's Shirk Center. The meet is set to open at 4:00 p.m. and will feature a usual indoor events series but will include a Fresh-Soph version of all 3 of the relay events.
