Knights Go South
April 12, 2015
Richwoods preparations for putting their toes into the waters of Illinois big time competition at the Springfield Southeast Lady Spartan Ivitational proved to be far too little.
For Richwoods nearly the only thing that proved to be beautiful was the weather. For the most part, the Knights were simply outclassed by the competition. The team simply failed to bring their "A Game" to an "A Meet" and suffered the consequences - a forgettable 18th Place finish.
Despite the overall dismal day, Richwoods did have some postivies to show for their day. Distance runner Andrea Baumgartel set a PR in the 3200 with a very nice 12:32.57 effort, which was enough to move her to RHS #20 All-Time in the event. Also moving up on the RHS' Boards was Noah Worthy to #26 in the Discus with a 91' 7" throw. Senior Lamia Eldarazi continued to transition from the distance arena toward the ultra-long 800 and 400 sprints. Despite nursing a set of tender ankles, the senior put a 1:06.76 on the board in the open 400 and came back with a very nice opening leg in the 4x400 of 1:04. Freshman Shannon O'Malley dropped 14 seconds in her 1600 when she convincingly won her heat race with a 6:08.42 clocking. Audri Jeffs was also able to right her ship a bit in the 3200 by returning to sub-15 with 14:39.02.
