Knights Set 2 Records at Cogdal Relays

In its only indoor competition of the season the Richwoods team made history at the 42nd running of the Joseph Cogdal Relays hosted by Normal University High School at ISU's Horton Fieldhouse setting meet records in the 4x200 and 4x400 relays.

In the 4x200, leadoff runner Dashay Johnson essentially made up the stagger by the early portion of the first straightaway in leading teammates Jenisha Brittine, Donielle Ross and Shavantay Thomas to a FAT clocking of 1:49.97. The time eclipsed the old meet record of 1:51.1 set last season by Benton.

In the 4x400 Richwoods not only defended its win from last season but broke its own meet record (4:17.4) with its 4:15.40 effort.  Benton High School took  lead a substantial lead through the opening 2 legs and held a near 50 meter lead with 300 meters remaining when Shavantay Thomas made a huge move from the rear straight through the finish of her leg to give the Knights a slight advantage as she handed off to anchor Donielle Ross who promptly and continually expanded the lead to a 40 meter victory for the Knights.

Dashay Johnson and Shavantay Thomas demonstrated the strength of the RHS sprint group finishing 1st and 4th respectively in the 55 meter dash finals.
