Proposal for Three Class State Meet Competition

In the near future the Principal or Athletic Director of each IHSA member will be asked to complete a one question survey concerning Three Class State Meet competition. It is expected that the question will be simply to the effect "Do you support a 3 class 3 day State Track and Field Meet?"

The following is reportedly the current model for a 3 class 3 day meet that has been presented to and utilized by the board of Directors during discussions of the matter.

Days of Competition:

The meet will be held over 3 days - Thursday through Saturday.

The Class which competes on Thursday will rotate annually with Class A initiating the rotation.

Practice Times:

There will be NO ACCESS to the track on Wednesday in order to discourage schools from additional  classroom time losses.

The class competing on Thursday afternoon will have access to the track on Thursday morning, tentatively 8:00 a.m.

Following Thursday competition, all classes will have access to the track approximately 30 minutes after the conclusion.

Meet Times:
Thursday - 1A meet (1A the first year) - 12:45 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.
Friday - 2A - 9:00 a.m.
Friday - 3A - 1:15 p.m. (conclude around 4:00 p.m.)
Saturday - Running finals begin at 11:00 a.m.
Saturday - Field events - 10:00 a.m.
The finals should conclude at around 5:00 p.m.

Dormitory Rooms:

Dorms are projected as becoming available in the late afternoon on Wednesday, possibly only  to schools competing on Thursday in order to discourage the loss of classroom time for competing schools on Wednesday.
