Knights Compete at Palatine Relays Finish 9th in Superior Field of Teams Sunday, April 29, 2007 PJS Sports The Richwoods girls track and field team turned in a pair of Journal Star honor-roll best performances Saturday at the Palatine Relays.Exactly one week after leaping to a JS-area best in the triple jump, junior Donielle Ross ran to an area best in winning the 400 meters in 58.7 seconds. Ross also joined Da'Shay Johnson, Jenisha Brittine and Shavantay Thomas in lowering the area's best 4x200 time to 1:47.2. Richwoods finished third in the relay and ninth in the overall team standings. Barrington won the meet with 141 points, 68 more than second-place Mahomet-Seymour. Last season's state runner-up, host Palatine, was third with 69 points. The meet also saw RHS' Alex Starks turn in the best high jump of the meet at 5' 4". Additionally, the Knights 4x400 of Thomas, Brittine, Starks and Ross ran a season best 4:07.8 time in the event. Richwoods distsance runners Sravanthi Vegunta and Theresa Smart claimed each claimed 7th place finishes with respective season bests in the 800 and 3200 races at 2:32.3 and 12:55.8. |
