RHS Overwhelms Woodruff  133-17

Results      Photos

The Knights, led by the Richwoods school record discus throw of Jewel Sanders, overwhelmed Woodruff. Sanders has proved to be the best disc competitor in Richwoods history only four meets into her first season of throwing. Each of Sanders' three efforts against Woodruff surpassed the previous RHS record of 114' 4" held by Delaina Martin, with the long being 118' 3". She also took the shot put with her 32' 10½" toss.

Alisha Smith dominated the sprints with convincing wins in both the 100 and 200 as well as strong legs of the 4x100 and 4x200.

Freshman Martica Young was introduced to the 400 in rather unusual fashion. Young was trying to maintain the lead when, to the chagrin of RHS coaches, she was confronted with 5 of the 300 meter hurdles having already been put in position in her lane. Martica remained calm and simply ran around each of the impediments but unfortunately at a substantial time penalty.

In all Richwoods posted wins in 18 events.

Knights' performances which either moved onto or into a higher position on the all-time Richwoods performance lists were:

Jewel Sanders 1st Discus 118'  3"
Unes, J.Smith, Gordon, A.Smith 7th 4x100 :50.3

    Congratulations to all.
