Laura Unes and Jamie Powers, Richwoods Women's Track & Field Team
captains, have been named as 2004 Sterling Merit
Scholars. The duo have
also attained positions as members of the Top 10 grade point average
graduates in the Richwoods class of 2004.
The 172
Scholars chosen from area schools will be honored at the 45th Annual
Sterling Merit Awards Banquet on May 11th at the Peoria Civic Center to
be attended by in excess of 500 invitees.
Amanda Baietto,
Courtney Johnson and
Ashley Moeller joined Unes and Powers as new members of the National Honor
Society.
Presidents Education Awards were presented to Knights Tracksters Courtney Johnson, Laura
Unes and Jamie Powers.
Unes and
Powers were also announced as Illinois
State Scholars.
Unes was
also the recipient of an American Legion Medallion, named Marine
Corp Distinguished Athlete and the Jaime
Epstein Award winner.
Powers
additionally was awarded a National
Merit Scholarship, University of Oklahoma regent's Scholarship, and
Robert Byrd Scholarship.
Moeller
was awarded a Northern Illinois University President's Scholarship.
Further
scholarship recipients were Ashley Gordon to Southern Illinois Unversity -
Carbondale, and Stephanie Lovingood who received a full athletic grant in
aid to Western Illinois University.
