Last Event Decides Sectional

 

    The Knights were projected by the media to be an also-ran team. Until the last race of the day was finished, the Knights positioned themselves to grab the title. However, following the win by Metamora in the 4 x 400 relay Richwoods found itself in second place 8 points behind Metamora. The Knights finished 26 ahead of 3rd place Bloomington and 44 ahead of Mid-State 6 champion Pekin.

 

    Richwoods athletes were able to put forward season best performances in 10 events on the day. Probably the most spectacular was Jamie Powers continued improvement with a 106' 10" throw in the discus which now places her 3rd in the Knights all-time lists.

 

 

    The sprint relay team of Barbara Hale, Laura Unes, Ashley Gordon and Alisha Smith claimed the titles in both the 4 x 100 (:49.6) and the 4 x 200 (1:45.9).

 

 

    Alisha Smith made it a 4 gold day with her individual crowns in the 100 (:12.1) and
