Knights Win 18 Events
131 - 20 Victory Over Peoria High School
Richwoods won 18 of the 19 events contested, losing only the shotput, and claimed a 131-20 victory over the visitors from Peoria High School. With the win, the Knights now have extended their dual meet streak to 42.
The Knights were led by Captain Barbara Hale's 3 individual wins joined by her leadoff leg of a victorious relay. Hale won both sand jumps with leaps of 15' 1½" in the long and 30' 8" in the triple. On the track she claimed the 200 meter dash in :27.3 and opened the meet with a quality first leg in the Medley Relay. The Medley ran an impressive 1:57.7 despite less than perfect baton work.
Co-Captain Laura Unes and Brittney Wallace also can brag of 4 win days, Unes in the 400 meter dash (:66.6), Medley Relay (1:57.7), 4x100 (:52.1) and 4x400 (4:43.6), Wallace in the 100 Hurdles (:17.7), 300 Hurdles (:55.7), and 4x400.
The Knights also had triple winners in Alisha Smith ( 100 meter dash - :12.3, Medley, and 4x100) and Freshman Deja Davis ( Medley Relay, 4x200, and 4x400).
In an historical outing in the pole vault, the Knights for the first time had 3 competitors clear the bar - Shauna Wills, whose 7' 6" vault was a winner, Carrie Knapp, whose 6' 0" effort edged Dianna He's identical height on misses for 3rd.
