The Knights, just as others who have attempted, were unable to clear the bar of five straight MidSta9.jpg (75888 bytes) conference titles. They had their four year run as Mid State 6 Conference Champions ended with the seizure of the crown by Pekin. The Knights also finished the meet behind runner up Notre Dame.

The Knights were able to top their seed times in several events and tied Notre Dame with 6 event wins. Unfortunately for the Knights that simply was not good enough to overcome a very focused Pekin team.

Richwoods was again led by Alisha Smith on the track and Delaina Martin in the field.

Smith, whose season best :11.8 is currently tied for number 2 in the state according to Illinois Prep Top Times listings, was a quadruple gold winner taking the individual titles in the 100 and 200 dashesMidSta16.jpg (118459 bytes) and anchoring the victorious 4x100 and 4x200 relays.  In the 100 she was the top qualifier in :12.1 and cruised in her 200 qualifying round in :26.3. In the finals of both dashes Smith was overwhelming. She claimed the 100 in :12.2 over runner up Pertrice Holley of Woodruff (:12.6) and brought a roar from the crowd with her :25.4 which provided nearly a 1 second victory margin over Notre Dame's Megan Hamilton who finished in :26.3.

Delaina Martin claimed the double victory in the throws in  convincing fashion. In defending her MidSta2.jpg (112708 bytes) shot put title, Delaina out threw 2nd place Jackie Russell of Peoria High by nearly 2 feet - 36' 10" to 34' 11". Martin's margin of victory over twice defending Andrea Candler of Pekin was simiarly convincing - 113' 8" to 109' 4".

Improving from their seed times were the Knights' Deja Davis in the 400 (:63.0), Moriah Johnson in the 3200 (13:16.5), LaPorschua Lindsey in the 400 (:66.2), Leah Loggin in the 800 (2:42.8), Jamie Powers in the discus (97' 6"), Nathalie Razo in three events, the triple jump (30' 8"), the 100 hurdles (:17.7), and the 300 hurdles (:54.3), and Brittney Wallace in the 300 hurdles (:49.5).

The sprint relay of Barbara Hale, Laura Unes, Ashley Gordon and Alisha Smith lowered both of its marks. In the 4 x 100  the Knights who held 5th place in the Illinois Prep Top Times listings going into the meet produced a :49.5. The group ran 1:47.5 in the 4 x 200.

The medley relay team of Laura Unes, Shauna Wills, Ashley Gordon and Deja Davis also lowered its time to a respectable 1:55.0. The 4 x 800 distance relay of Robin Pestien, Ashley Moeller, Dianna He and Alisha Guard also lowered their mark to 11:14.3.
