No Knights Reach State Finals

    The Knights returned to the IHSA AA State Championship Meet to compete in the same 4 events as in 2002 - the 100 m. dash, 200 m. dash, 4 x100 m. relay and 4 x 200 m. relay. Despite producing better performances than last year in each of the events the Knights were unable to move anyone to the Finals.

    In the open events Alisha Smith ran :12.59 in the 100 for 4th in her prelim and :26.54 placing 6th in the 200 heat, but needed to have bettered the times of :12.39 and :25.02 to have reached finals.

    The Knights proved to have been their own worst enemies in failing to qualify in the 4 x 100 relay by virtue of handoff difficulties. The Knights ran a relatively slow :50.34 enroute to a 4th place prelim finish.

    The 4 x 200 relay produced a 1:45.11 season best to finish 3rd in their heat, but were still unable to advance to the Saturday finals. The time was over 2½ seconds faster than their final qualifying time of a year ago and was .81 second faster then their medal performance of 2002.
